According to the latest Wood Mackenzie Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings, the Top global solar module manufacturers (over 40 companies from 10 countries) were assessed based on nine key criteria, including capacity utilization, ESG, financial conditions, certification availability, technology maturity, manufacturing experience, supply-chain resilience, vertical integration, and R&D capabilities. The findings indicate that the Top 10 solar module manufacturers combined take about 62 percent of the global production capacity and almost 89 percent of module exports, a fact that promotes their strong presence in the industry. The ranking also offers some relative view of how these top companies performed, and the chart below illustrates their overall scores across the selected factors. As can be seen, the three largest players, all top Chinese solar module manufacturers, are Jinko Solar, JA Solar, and LONGi Green Energy (Wood Mackenzie, 2025).

10. Tongwei Solar
Tongwei Solar is a major Chinese green energy and farm enterprise that was established in 1992 by Liu Hanyuan in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The company ranks among the top Chinese solar module manufacturers and is the world’s largest producer of high-purity polysilicon and solar cells. Moreover, Tongwei Solar is a leader in innovative technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, and perovskite-silicon tandem cells.

Tongwei Solar, which scores 70.7, has been ranked among the top solar module manufacturers by Wood Mackenzie Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Furthermore, according to InfoLink data in the NREL report, Toneway exported about 18.7 GWp of modules, ranking 5th among the largest exporters (NREL, 2024). Toneway’s distinctive feature is its advanced generation TOPCon cell technology. Its two series of modules, TNC and THC, aresome of the ten best-performing commercial modules. The TNC 1.0 cell of Toneway has similar efficiencies of more than 25.4 percent, and the TNC 2.0 cell is aiming at higher efficiencies of more than 26.5 percent (Taiyangnews, 2025).

9. Qcells
Hanwha Qcells (or simply Qcells), founded in 1999 in Thalheim, Germany, is a subsidiary of the Hanwha Group of South Korea. The company focuses on research, development, production, and sale of solar cells, modules, and clean energy solutions. Its global headquarters is in Seoul, with its technology and innovation center in Thalheim, Germany (CANVAS, 2025).

According to the latest Wood Mackenzie Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings, Qcells scored 73.9, placing it 9th among the top solar module manufacturers worldwide (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). While it has dropped out of the top 10 module exporters, according to InfoLink Consulting, as non-Chinese brands such as Tongwei and DAS Solar have grown in exports, most non-Chinese manufacturers have failed to follow suit quickly.

Q.TRON M-G2+ BLK Series by Hanwha Qcells is the best solar panel produced by the company based on the newest Q.ANTUM DUO (PERC-based) technology with 22.5% efficiency and 385-410W power output and a 30-year product and performance warranty. Qcells has a reputation for an integrated manufacturing system: plants in Germany, Malaysia, and South Korea and an increasing presence in the US state of Georgia, positioning it among Top solar module manufacturers in the USA for residential and commercial markets (PV magazine, 2023).

8. Risen Energy
Risen Energy is a company that was established in 1986 in Ningbo, China, and has several manufacturing plants in China and Malaysian countries. The company is considered one of the most successful manufacturers of the sophisticated modules, including n-type TOPCon and HJT (heterojunction). In 2024, they introduced the Hyper-ion Pro series that can achieve mass production and provide over 730 Wp per module, the first industrial-scale use of Hyper-ion technology (Risen).

In the latest Wood Mackenzie global ranking, Risen Energy secured the 8th position, reflecting its strong performance among the Top global solar module manufacturers (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Also, according to the NREL Solar Industry Report, Risen Energy ranked No. 10 globally for solar module export with an export of approximately 8 GWp (NREL, 2024). From cell-to-module manufacturing to the continuous development of next-generation efficiency-enhancing technologies, several things differentiate Risen Energy. Although the company shipped fewer products compared to JinkoSolar or LONGi, it has gained strong global popularity among Solar module top manufacturers thanks to its historical track record, high efficiency, and good ESG ratings.

Risen modules are made for big utility projects or for developers who need very efficient and high-quality options that use both HJT and TOPCon technologies.
7. Astronergy
Astronergy (full name: Chint New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.) is a leading Chinese company in the production of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, established in 2006 as one of China’s first private solar companies. Astronergy is a subsidiary of CHINT Group involved in researching, developing, manufacturing, and selling high-efficiency, crystalline silicon cells and modules and tries to establish a sustainable, zero-carbon world with the help of solar energy.

Astronergy achieved a score of 78.2 in Wood Mackenzie’s ranking and was placed 7th worldwide, securing its position among the top solar module manufacturers and highlighting its technical strength and bankability (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). NREL reports that quoted Infolink figures also indicated that Astronergy sold approximately 18.7 GWp of solar panels, making it the sixth largest manufacturer in the world (NREL, 2024). The cumulative shipment of modules by the company had surpassed 130 GW, which enabled producing about 169 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity in the world (Astronergy sustainability report, 2024).

The flagship product line of the company is called ASTRO and is based on the technology of N-type TOPCon. The ASTRO N7 module has an efficiency of approximately 23.3% and up to 635 Wp output and was identified by the Taiwanese research site TaiyangNews as one of the most efficient solar modules (TaiyangNews, 2025). Astronergy modules are recommended to large-scale developers and investors, who require affordable modules, highly efficient, and TOPCon modules, with a proven bankability and a strong, vertically integrated global supply chain.
6. DMEGC Solar
DMEGC Solar (a division of Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics Co., Ltd.) is a leading Chinese company in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, established in 1980 as part of the Hengdian Group and entering the solar sector in 2009. Focusing on research, development, production, and sales of high-efficiency solar modules and cells, DMEGC Solar aims to deliver sustainable renewable energy solutions. It operates six manufacturing bases in China (e.g., Hengdian, Sihong, Qixian, Yibin, and Lianyungang) and Southeast Asia.

With a score of 83.0, DMEGC Solar has placed 6th place globally among the leading solar module manufacturers in the latest Wood Mackenzie “Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings” (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Wood Mackenzie releases its rankings twice a year, in January and June. DMEGC Solar was ranked 8th in an earlier edition, and this recent advancement to 6th place reflects the company’s ongoing breakthroughs in technology, production capacity, and market expansion (DMEGC Solar, 2025).

With such sophisticated technologies as SMBB, non-contact cut with a laser, and anti-reflective black, the DMEGC Solar Infinity N-type module series can reach a maximum efficiency of 25.5 percent, stable performance even in weak sunlight, and meet the temperature coefficient of a low value (DMEGC Solar, 2023). The modules also have a 25-year linear warranty and ensure a below-0.4% yearly power degradation, uplifting brand reputation and customer trust in residential, commercial, utility, agricultural, and floating applications. With such strengths, the company has secured a stable position in the overseas solar panel market.
5. Trina Solar
Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (commonly known as Trinasolar) is a leading company and one of the Top Chinese solar module manufacturers in the solar and renewable energy sector, founded in 1997 in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. Focusing on the research, development, production, and sale of photovoltaic (PV) products such as modules, cells, and energy storage systems, Trina Solar is one of the top four Chinese PV module manufacturers.

Trina Solar scored 83.7, which is 5th in the list of the top solar module manufacturers in the Wood Mackenzie evaluation (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Besides the Wood Mackenzie study, according to market data provided by the NREL Solar Industry report, Trina Solar was the fourth largest exporter, with nearly 34 GWp of modules exported (NREL, 2024). Trina’s technological leadership is also key: The company achieved a number of lab and mass-production milestones, such as large-area n-type module world-record conversion levels and high power outputs (Trina achieved >740 W for a 210+ i-TOPCon and record conversion efficiencies in HJT and TOPCon lines). These technological advances are the cornerstone of Trina’s product family based on Vertex/i-TOPCon, targeting very high power and low Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) for utility applications (PVmagazine, 2024).

4. Canadian Solar
Canadian Solar is a global leader in solar and renewable energy and is one of the largest globally. The company commenced in 2001 and is global headquarters located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The company has cumulatively installed over 15 GW of solar modules worldwide, built over 12 GW of utility projects and 6 GWh of energy storage on a worldwide basis. In contrast to most of the first 10, Canadian Solar is located outside of China, which provides it with a unique niche in the worldwide PV market.

According to the latest Wood Mackenzie Rankings, Canadian Solar was ranked 4th globally among the top solar module manufacturers, with a composite score of 84 (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Complementing this, data released by InfoLink showed Canadian Solar ranked seventh worldwide, with solar panel exports amounting to approximately 14.5 GWp (NREL, 2024). Canadian Solarone, one of the Top global solar module manufacturers, has adopted the new N-type TOPCon technology; more than 57 percent of its cell manufacturing has been using N-type architecture. The company launched the TOPBiHiKu CS6.2 series with 660 Wp output and a maximum conversion efficiency of 24.4 percent, a major breakthrough in utility and commercial PV systems (CanadianSolar).

Canadian Solar modules are designed for developers and industries seeking reliable, high-power bifacial TOPCon solutions, a position that reinforces its status among Solar module top manufacturers with strong efficiency gains and global support.
3. LONGi
LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (commonly known as LONGi) is a leading Chinese solar technology company, founded in February 2000 as Xi’an LONGi Silicon Materials Corporation by Li Zhenguo in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Renamed in February 2017 to reflect its expanded scope after acquiring LERRI Solar, LONGi focuses on the research, development, manufacturing, and sale of monocrystalline silicon wafers, cells, modules, and photovoltaic systems, aiming to drive the global clean energy transition with innovative solutions.

The latest Wood Mackenzie Rankings placed LONGi Green Energy Technology, with a score of 85.1, at the 3rd position among the Top global solar module manufacturers (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). According to shipment data provided by NREL, LONGi sold about 31.3 GWp of solar to become one of the largest solar exporters in the world (NREL, 2024). To put this into perspective, this production is sufficient to supply close to 9 million average UK homes with power on an annual basis under Standard Test Conditions (STC). In addition to quantity, LONGi has emerged as a technological pioneer, having made a breakthrough in efficiency in mass production. Late in 2024, LONGi reported two confirmed world records: 26.8% for TOPCon cells and 27.3% for its HJT cells (LONGI, 2024). Once again pushing the limits of photovoltaic innovation, LONGi announced in April 2025 that its independently developed two-terminal crystalline silicon–perovskite tandem solar cell, certified by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory, had achieved a new world record conversion efficiency of 34.85% (LONGI, 2025).
The unique characteristics of LONGi Solar are its size in terms of wafers and modules, its bankable nature, and its technical leadership in the field of R&D, which makes LONGi Solar one of the most reasonable and safe options of large developers worldwide.

2. JA Solar
JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (also referred to as JA Solar) is a popular Chinese-based photovoltaic (PV) company that was started in 2005 in Yangpu District, Shanghai, but its headquarters is now based in Beijing. It specializes in the design, development, production, and sale of monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cells and modules, exporting to over 178 countries and regions, including Germany, Italy, the United States, South Korea, and Australia.

JA Solar scored a commendable 89.8, securing the 2nd position among the top solar module manufacturers in the latest Global Rankings by Wood Mackenzie (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). NREL mentions that an estimated 38 GWp of JA Solar exports occurred, making it one of the leading exporters and the second-largest export company (NREL, 2024). JA Solar also made significant technological progress: Bycium+ 5.0 n-type TOPCon cells, which drive JA Solar DeepBlue 5.0 modules, also achieved a record efficiency of up to 24.8% (670 W) in mid-2025. The modules have been able to operate under different conditions, including low light and in severe weather, which has offered stable and reliable energy production (JA Solar, 2025). Additionally, by filing over 977 invention patents and promoting modular solutions like 0BB and anti-dust single-glass designs made for markets with harsh conditions, it increased its R&D investment (JA Solar Report, 2024).

JA Solar panels are a combination of highly developed technologies, financial stability, and real-world performance, which makes them suitable to utility-scale developers and EPC companies.
1. Jinko Solar
JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (referred to as JinkoSolar) is the largest and most advanced manufacturer of solar modules in the world, founded in December 2006 in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, China. The company specializes in the research and development, manufacture, and sale of photovoltaic (PV)-based products and includes ingots, wafers, cells, and modules to provide solar solutions to utility-scale, commercial, and residential applications. Headquartered in Shangrao, it owns more than 10 globalized manufacturing plants, including in the United States, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Australia, and the UAE, a footprint that helps position it among Top solar module manufacturers in the USA.

According to the latest Wood Mackenzie Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings, JinkoSolar achieved the highest overall score of 92.1, ranking No. 1 among the top solar module manufacturers worldwide. This is indicative of its unrivaled production capacity (more than 90 GWp per annum), its good bankability track record and speed in deploying n-type TOPCon technology in several gigafactories (Wood Mackenzie, 2025). Furthermore, according to NREL reports, JinkoSolar exported around 37 GWp, maintaining its leadership through consistent year-on-year double-digit growth (NREL, 2024). The company’s exports hit 350 GW of cumulative module shipments, achieving the number-one position in module exports in the world for the sixth time.
Jinko’s top Tiger Neo series uses advanced n-type TOPCon cells that achieve production efficiencies over 24.80% and can produce modules with outputs as high as With a temperature coefficient of –0.26%/°C and excellent reliability under low-light and harsh weather conditions, JinkoSolar modules deliver stable, long-term performance in diverse applications.

The difference that JinkoSolar has as compared to other companies in the industry is based not only on its size but also on the spans that will cover more than 180 countries with great adoption in both utility-scale projects and residential/commercial rooftops.
Leading brands like Jinko and LONGi are now leveraging smart technologies for advanced plant monitoring. In this regard, exploring AI applications in solar electrical systems reveals how this technology has revolutionized energy production efficiency.
Conclusion
An overview of the Solar module top manufacturers shows that the market is dominated by a few manufacturers in the world. The latest Wood Mackenzie Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings reveal those such as JinkoSolar, JA Solar, and LONGi that are leading with the best efficiency, bankability, and large-scale production points. Complementary data supplied by InfoLink and NREL also verified their shipment volumes, proving their unmatched role in speeding up global solar adoption. To investors, developers, and homeowners, it is not only about purchasing panels among these trusted Best top solar module manufacturers but also about saving energy over the long term, trusted performance, and future-proof technology. With rapid advances in n-type TOPCon, HJT, and perovskite-tandem technologies, these top players are setting new benchmarks for efficiency and sustainability. Finally, whether it’s a big solar farm or a house roof, the accessibility of most of the world’s leading brands facilitates wiser and more future-oriented investments in solar power and other renewable sources of energy. The Top 10 solar module manufacturers of the world control over 60 percent of global production capability and close to 90 percent of exports, and thus highlight their key role in promoting the shift toward clean energy globally.
